NovA Lost Box
I usually don’t like getting the Christmas decorations out before Thanksgiving, but Lizzie happens to disagree with my tradition of waiting until after Thanksgiving so I had to compromise on this issue. You see, I just feel that putting the decorations out a week or two before Thanksgiving sort of undermines Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving, so I don’t like to do that.
Or maybe it’s just my loathing of digging through our dusty storage room for the box of decorations. That’s really not the funnest thing to do, especially since we have two heavy bikes in there laying over the top of everything. I have to eat my Spinach and grow some huge muscles to get them out so that I can start digging through boxes, and I usually hurt myself somehow and say a few curse words in the process.
Unfortunately for me, after about an hour of digging through storage and the apartment, I seem to have lost one of the major boxes. I just can’t find it. I don’t know how we’ve managed to lose a simple cardboard box in a one bedroom apartment, but it’s happened. Today, I’m going to have to look again, getting the heavy bikes out again, tearing through every box. I’m going to have to look at absolutely every inch of every closet and that storage room or I’ll be in big trouble (since I’m the one who put the box away).
Other than that, it’s been an ordinary weekend as usual. A little warmer than a few days ago. It’s always hard to believe when you get to the point where 35 degrees is considered warmer. This morning I’ve spent a lot of my time staring with a dumb glazed expression at the computer screen, as usual. Did all the things I do to work up some inspiration, read a little, walked around, watched some TV, had a cup of coffee, checked the web every 10 minutes.
I observed this morning that everything I was wearing had holes in it. The sweatshirt has frayed cuffs, my sweatpants are nearly gone at the knees, and my socks had but three white strands interposed between the heel and the floor. Are we poor? I wondered. Nah – not really, these things are just comfortable and I don’t want to let them go. I bought some nice new comfortable shorts to wear around the house, but I don’t want to ruin them. I do not wear these items to be contrary – I just want to save the other clothes for the day when this outfit dissolves into a pile of lint. And it’s comfortable, and I hate to throw comfortable stuff out.
I’d never wear it outside the house. I won’t even answer the door in this garb – I’ll put on street clothes. I’m always astonished when I see people wearing sweat pants in public. It all goes back to the first fellow who left the house without a hat, and it’s all been downhill since then. No, I’m not claiming to be perfect on this issue. Not at all.
Well, I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. We’re going up North Wednesday night and should be returning Saturday evening. See-ya later.
On your way out, be sure to check out this house’s christmas lights (WMV Movie)
