Darn, my favorite holiday has come and gone. Well, at least I can say that Thanksgiving was good this year. Thanksgiving was awesome this year, actually. Had a great time. Don’t get me wrong, it’s rarely been bad. What’s not to love about eating entirely too much good food and hanging out with the fam?
It’s been snowing a great deal around here lately. One would think it must be winter or something. A fellow was telling me that his parents came up from Florida to see some snow for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately for them, they came Monday last week to find nothing but brown grass. They headed back south Friday afternoon, just missing the massive amount of snow the Twin Cities would receive that evening. Too bad, better luck next time.
I was rather welcoming to the snow this year. I showed up in NoDak Wednesday night, depressed that snowmobiling was totally out of the question. What good is the frigid cold if you can’t snowmobile? All the snow on Friday was just barely enough to get the sleds out for a few hours on Saturday, and it was a blast. This week I think it’s snowed almost every day around here. If it wasn’t for the bad traffic that results, I just might be singing ‘Let it snow!’ But sorry, I won’t be singing this year.
I’ve felt like I have my head in a blender this week. It’s been a busy week, I’ve been pretty wiped every night after work. It’s been tough getting back into the swing of things. I guess that week coming back after a vacation is always tough. It’s an easy time to be grouchy, too, as most people seem to be right now. Those people don’t make my life much easier.
The plans for Christmas are as follows: Staying home, I guess. I’m taking this hard look at all the bills that seem to be piling up and doing anything major is just out of the question. I was hoping we could make it down to Kansas to spend Christmas with my sister, but it’s not going to happen. Just had to put four new tires on Lizzie’s car, have to get her new glasses, have car registration, and other stuff that is equally as depressing.
I’m sure you know how it feels when it seems like you’re spending all kinds of money on unrewarding things. For example, you get four new tires and no matter what you get, you just don’t feel like it was worth nearly as much as you paid. Well unless you drive one of those oversized monster trucks and your tires are bigger and cooler than everyone else’s, then I guess that would probably be a pretty rewarding purchase. $350 for four little tires on a Kia just seems like a big nuisance is all. It’s a bill. And bills are a pain, I remember a time when getting the mail was fun because all I’d ever get was magazines and stuff like that. Now I’m usually afraid to even open the mailbox, because it’s just too painful.
Oh well, at least I’m getting those bills paid. Sort of. See-ya later. Happy Holidays.
