For you NFL fans out there, here’s how I think Week 10 in the NFL is going to go down. I meant to post my picks for the first 9 weeks, but forgot about it. I’ll get them up every Thursday moving forward.
I am 85-45 so far this season, total confidence points won is 698. Not as good as Accuscore but I’m neck & neck with the ESPN analysts at espn.go.com/nfl/picks
Confidence points are used to give a different weight to each game, I get one point value per game (from 1 to 16 if there are 16 games, so for example I get one value of 16 to assign to a game, one value of 15 to assign to a game, and so on).
I pick San Diego over Oakland with 13 confidence points
Oakland hasn’t been half bad this year, and San Diego has been struggling. Still, I think the Chargers will overmatch Oakland and Phil Rivers is going to be trying to prove he isn’t worthless this season. With that, I’m feeling really confident in this one.
I pick New Orleans over Atlanta with 2 confidence points
This might be one of the closer games of the week, Atlanta is a good team and so is New Orleans, but both teams are inconsistent. I feel like the Saints are the better team here, but I’m not too confident in how this one will turn out.
I pick Cincinnati over Pittsburgh with 1 confidence point
Pittsburgh is my least favorite team of all, and I take every opportunity to cheer against them. Andy Dalton could be my hero this weekend, beat these damn Steelers! Maybe I should be more confident in my confidence score on this one, because the Benglas are actually pretty surprising this year. I’m looking forward to Andy Dalton and AJ Green making some big plays and Rothelisbergerwithcheese and his cohorts hopefully making some big mistakes.
I pick St. Louis over Cleveland with 4 confidence points
These are both lower-tier teams, but they may actually be pretty equally matched. I have no idea, I haven’t really been following what’s going on with either. I just know that the Rams have been doing worse than expected but had a good week last week, I think they’ll carry that momentum into this game even though it is an away game in Cleveland.
I pick Buffalo over Dallas with 6 confidence points
Could easily go either way, really. The Cowboys aren’t great, and Buffalo has shown signs of greatness. I think Buffalo is the more confident team, they are feeling good about themselves this year.
I pick Jacksonville over Indy with 10 confidence points
This is getting to be an easy pick, the Colts may lose every game this year. One of them they may surprise us with a win though, hopefully it won’t be this week…I don’t know too much about Jacksonville, but they don’t seem like a team that is going to overwhelm the Colts. I’m sticking to the Colts losing trend, but I may be risking a lot here.
I pick Kansas City over Denver with 12 confidence points
Might actually be a pretty good matchup, I like Eric Decker at Denver but don’t feel too confident in Tebow. I also don’t have a lot of confidence in Kansas City especially after they let me down against Miami last week. However, Kansas City seems like the better team so I’m going to risk some big confidence points on them (again). They’d better not let me down this time.
I pick Miami over Washington with 5 confidence points
Tough pick here, Miami played well against the Chiefs and Washington hasn’t been very good. I’m going to go Miami simply because they have some good momentum coming from last week and John Beck doesn’t seem too confident at QB.
I pick Philly over Arizona with 15 confidence points
Kevin Kolb just isn’t working out in Arizona, as much as I do not like Philly they have my confidence to win this one.
I pick Houston over Tampa Bay with 11 confidence points
These are the two teams I never seem to know anything about. A little bit of research shows that Houston should be the clear winner, but Tampa Bay may prove me to be a bonehead this one.
I pick Carolina over Tennessee with 9 confidence points
Cam Newton has to get some wins, he’s playing way too well but his team is letting him down. I’m fairly confident that a win against Tennessee is possible. But, the Panthers aren’t brilliant against the run and Chris Johnson has picked things up. This is a tough call, but I’m rooting for the Panthers and putting some big points at risk.
I pick Baltimore over Seattle with 16 confidence points
Baltimore is awesome, they need to keep winning games to beat the annoying Pittsburgh Steelers in the division. I’ll be cheering for the Ravens big time. Seattle will be outmatched unless they come out and have a lot of good luck, but I don’t feel too afraid of putting all 16 points against Tavaris Jackson (he’s still starting, right?) – LOL, that sounds real confident.
I pick Detroit over Chicago with 3 confidence points
I think Chicago is underrated, and Detroit is having a good year. This will be a close game, not a lot of confidence in what the outcome will be but I’m rooting for Detroit.
I pick San Francisco over New York (NYG) with 8 confidence points
Another really good game as the Giants come off a big win against New England and the 49ers are on a roll. The 49ers are my favorite NFC team and I’m hoping they win every game the rest of the season and I’m putting a lot of confidence in that. Awesome defense, a QB with a scheme that is working well for him, and Frank Gore is a beast.
I pick New England over New York (NYJ) with 7 confidence points
My favorite AFC team (the Patriots) are in a slump, losing the last two games, so I can’t be as confident in them in this matchup against the Jets. These teams are both 5-3 and I hope to see the Patriots get a big win in this one.
As a traitor Minnesotan, I pick Green Bay over Minnesota with a whopping 14 confidence points
The Vikings actually gave the Packers a good run last time thanks to some turnovers by the Packers, and most of the Metrodome seemed to be cheering for the Packers in that game. We’ll see how the rookie QB from Florida State handles a chilly day at Lambeau. Should be fun to watch, but Aaron Rodgers is just too awesome to lose right now and I bet the Packers will make fewer mistakes in this one, and I think it’s doubtful the score will be as close. As a Minnesotan it is a game I’ll have to watch. I like what Ponder is doing and Rodgers is fun to watch.
