I developed a passion for drawing as a young child in the 80s, excelling in high school where drawing was one of my only standout skills. Initially drawn to architecture or industrial design due to my tendency to daydream about and draw houses, cars, and realistic perspectives of manmade things, I later realized their true interest was in graphic design after job shadowing at architecture and engineering firms where they challenged me with all the math involved. Inspired by M.C. Escher’s perspectives, I transitioned to more abstract work and then after working professionally on advertisements I started exploring drawing more natural subject matter like people and self portraits from experiences, and using art as a means of storytelling about life and people. My preferred mediums include graphite, pen/ink, charcoal, watercolors, and a mix of traditional and digital illustration techniques.
